Each coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded clamshell with a black beauty box. Obverse: The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The obverse also bears a special marking that includes four pearls symbolizing the four effigies that have graced Canadian coins and the double date of her reign. Reverse: This egg-shaped coins reverse features an original pysanka design by artist Tanya Mykytiuk, with motifs rooted in tradition and enhanced with contemporary colors. Diamonds represent knowledge and the four corners of the Earth, while nets denote the division of good from evil and right from wrong.
The eight-pointed star motif an ancient symbol of the sun and the return of spring appears alongside stylized flowers, flanked by periwinkle (barvinok) leaves and vines; together, these symbols radiate hope and resilience while celebrating the relationship between the earth and the sun, and the cyclical nature of life.
